Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Laboratory Central Processing Assistant Phlebotomy to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling and processing laboratory specimens, ensuring specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Competently handle and process all laboratory specimens
  • Ensure specimen integrity by adhering to laboratory procedures
  • Serve as a resource for specimen and testing information
  • Meet minimum qualifications, including high school diploma or equivalent and ASCP or equivalent certification as a phlebotomy technician
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in obtaining specimens and dispensing critical information
  • Operate laboratory equipment, computer systems, and manage supply inventory system

Work Environment

The Laboratory Central Processing Assistant Phlebotomy will work in a well-lit, ventilated area with exposure to disagreeable odors, toxic fumes, and high noise levels. The position involves exposure to carcinogenic, hazardous, and flammable chemicals; biohazardous and radioactive materials; sharp needles and blades; infectious diseases; and toxic fumes.

Physical Requirements
  • May be required to work more than a standard shift as dictated by workload, staffing, and equipment failure
  • Sitting, standing, and stooping may be involved throughout the entire shift
  • Ability to unpack and stock supplies lifting
