OBJECTIVE
To ensure the safety of students while crossing streets and navigating traffic; performs related duties as necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary role of this position is to create a secure environment for students and assist them in safely crossing streets. The individual in this role will work under the supervision of the school Principal. The main responsibilities include outdoor activities, which may involve exposure to various weather conditions and potential hazards from traffic.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Utilize standard crosswalk and safety equipment;
  • Ensure a secure environment for students crossing busy streets at designated points;
  • Manage traffic and pedestrian flow;
  • Report unsafe conditions, incidents, and violations to the Principal or authorities as required;
  • Document student behavior and report issues to a supervisor or Principal as necessary;
  • Conduct all duties in accordance with District policies and safety protocols;
  • May assist with lunchroom, playground, bus, and other monitoring tasks as assigned;
  • Perform additional related duties as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Understanding of basic traffic laws and procedures;
  • Knowledge of traffic control and pedestrian safety techniques;
  • Familiarity with school rules and behavioral expectations;
  • Experience with disciplinary methods and behavior management.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES

The ability to:
  • Follow both oral and written instructions while adhering to District policies;
  • Provide a secure environment for students crossing streets;
  • Recognize and respond appropriately to emergency situations;
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation;
  • Operate standard safety equipment;
  • Establish effective working relationships with students, parents, and staff;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively;
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding student and District matters;
  • Demonstrate integrity and creativity in task execution.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the necessary knowledge and abilities.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to communicate effectively, with or without reasonable accommodation;
  • Visual acuity to comprehend written materials and prepare documents;
  • Manual dexterity to perform repetitive tasks and operate equipment;
  • Mobility and flexibility to perform duties in various environments;
  • Job tasks may require climbing, kneeling, reaching, and lifting up to 20 lbs.;
  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.
PERFORMANCE EVALUATION
Conducted annually by the supervisor.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS
To be determined by the academic calendar. Regular attendance is crucial for this role.
