Leidos is seeking a High Voltage Electrical Design Expert to join our team in designing substation protection and control projects. As a key member of our team, the successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing substation protection and control systems for electric utilities at voltages from 12kV up to 500kV.

Job Description

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field, along with 8+ years of experience in substation protection and control design and/or field testing/commissioning. They will work closely with other disciplines such as substation, telecom, and civil structural teams to ensure seamless project execution.

Key responsibilities include designing one-line and three-line AC/DC schematic drawings, developing bill of materials, and conducting quality control checks on wiring designs. The expert will also be responsible for collaborating with clients, meeting deadlines under pressure situations, and maintaining compliance with client standards and the National Electrical Safety Code.

The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership and communication skills, be able to motivate and lead a team, and have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • 8+ years of experience in substation protection and control design and/or field testing/commissioning
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to read and design substation protection and control drawings
  • Experience with CAD tools
