Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team at Ascension. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for coordinating patient intake activities and resources, evaluating the severity of illness, and reviewing physician orders for clinical appropriateness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate patient intake activities and resources to ensure seamless care delivery
  • Evaluate the severity of illness for all elective, direct, and urgent admissions to determine appropriate level of patient care
  • Review physician orders for clinical appropriateness and completeness
  • Coordinate education and development of internal staff and external departments to ensure understanding of intake review and approval process
  • Conduct complex clinical review for inpatient, outpatient, and ancillary services requests for medical necessity
Requirements
  • BLS Provider certification obtained within 1 month of hire date required
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation obtained prior to hire date required
  • Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing or required professional licensure at time of hire
  • Minimum of 1 year previous hospice experience
  • BSN
