Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Civil Engineer to lead our design and development team in the Transportation Department. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing technical guidance and direction to ensure the successful delivery of transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to design and development teams
  • Review and approve detailed construction plans to ensure compliance with MnDOT, state and federal procedures, practices, regulations, and standards
  • Develop and implement project management plans to ensure timely and within-budget project delivery
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure effective project execution
  • Stay up-to-date with industry developments and best practices to ensure the team is equipped with the latest knowledge and skills
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Construction Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university or its equivalency as rated by NCEES/EAC
  • Passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Two years post-graduation civil engineering work or one year of post-graduate civil engineering work with a Master's degree
  • Experience using Windows based operating systems, spreadsheet and word-processing software applications
  • Project management skills sufficient to lead and train staff in managing design workload, scope and schedule
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Microstation, Geopak or related design and project management software
  • Knowledge of scoping documents, environmental documentation, design concepts, geometric layouts, construction, plan content and organization related to the development and design of highway transportation projects
  • Experience using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera P6 scheduling software
  • Knowledge of MnDOT policies, procedures, HPDP, ADA requirements, Geometric Design Standards, MnDOT Specifications, as well as State and Federal statute and regulatory requirements
