Core Objectives of the Role:

To motivate and guide the team towards achieving outstanding procurement results.

  • Lead and engage with a diverse global team dedicated to enhancing procurement practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the indirect procurement team and the Leadership Team in Global Procurement.
  • Assist in the development of contracting and outsourcing strategies.
  • Play a vital role in ensuring that procurement activities comply with both internal and external standards.

This position can be based in either Denmark or the United States (NJ) and will report directly to the Chief Procurement Officer, forming an essential part of the Group Procurement Leadership team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Supplier market, identifying key players and trends to foster advantageous agreements and innovation with Suppliers for mutual benefit.
  • Oversee a team of procurement professionals, addressing business needs while preparing for new challenges and changes.
  • Develop a robust, innovative, and relevant sourcing strategy to maximize value delivery.
  • Establish effective stakeholder management practices.
  • Collect and utilize market insights to assess supply markets and associated risks.
  • Lead, collaborate, and provide guidance on the complete contracting and outsourcing process for clinical trial services with external providers.
  • Manage the contract lifecycle, including initiation, negotiation, execution, and scope adjustments for master service agreements.
  • Implement initiatives aimed at cost reduction, avoidance, and containment while upholding quality and sustainability standards.
  • Direct vendor governance efforts.
  • Oversee category strategies within the defined responsibilities.
  • Facilitate cross-functional management involving R&D, Legal, IT, Finance, Compliance, and QA.

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree or substantial experience in the healthcare sector is preferred.
  • International experience is highly regarded.
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in clinical outsourcing and/or contracting within the biotech or pharmaceutical fields.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of clinical drug development processes.
  • High level of economic sensitivity coupled with an analytical mindset.
  • Proven excellence in stakeholder management within a complex, matrixed organization.
  • Exceptional communication skills with a strong ability to influence.
  • Well-organized and self-sufficient with a focus on simplification.
  • Outstanding analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing organization.
  • Self-motivated and proactive.
  • Fluency in Business English; proficiency in a Scandinavian language is preferred for candidates based in Denmark.
