Job Overview

Scout Space is revolutionizing space exploration with cutting-edge data-driven solutions. We're seeking an exceptional Embedded Firmware Engineer to join our team and contribute to the design, development, and deployment of advanced electro-optical payloads for space missions.

This role is a critical part of our mission to make space safer and more accessible. As an Embedded Firmware Engineer, you will work closely with our team to develop drivers for optical and motion control systems, design embedded software and firmware architecture, and implement low-level board integration and test plans.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop firmware for space payloads, ensuring seamless integration with system-level components.
  • Develop drivers for optical and motion control systems, leveraging expertise in VHDL, C++, and Python.
  • Migrate novel data and image processing algorithms to FPGA, driving innovation in space technology.
  • Implement low-level board integration and test plans, ensuring the highest quality and reliability.
  • Generate documentation to support manufacturing, assembly, integration, and test, facilitating collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
  • Must be eligible to hold a clearance.
  • Strong experience with VHDL, C++, and Python, with a deep understanding of data reduction and memory management.
  • Familiarity with watchdogs, data reduction, and memory management, as well as machine learning concepts.
  • Expert Linux user with strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Deep understanding of data reduction and memory management, with expertise in VHDL, C++, and/or Python.
  • Familiarity with PCB design, especially for space environments, and encryption techniques.
