Position Overview: The EHS Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that the facility operates in a safe, secure, and well-maintained manner. This position is also responsible for supervising construction and renovation initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency while ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and allocate physical resources effectively within the organization.
- Engage in architectural and engineering planning, including space and installation management.
- Prepare and assess operational reports and schedules to guarantee accuracy and efficiency.
- Establish departmental goals and deadlines.
- Oversee environmental, industrial health, and safety programs for manufacturing operations.
- Lead the development, planning, and execution of environmental, health, and safety policies; create procedures related to chemical safety, ergonomics, and injury prevention.
- Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local regulations regarding environmental safety and liaise with relevant agencies.
- Assist in evaluating chemicals, activities, and processes for compliance and mitigation of EHS impacts.
- Act as the primary contact for emergency response teams and manage the administration of the workers' compensation program.
- Analyze performance trends to formulate objectives under the EH&S program.
- Drive positive change to align with business objectives across various company locations.
- Support operations and product groups in managing change activities, including equipment installation and process safety reviews.
- Utilize effective communication and escalation methods to inform leadership of all EH&S-related incidents, ensuring updates until root causes and corrective actions are established.
- Provide governance to ensure accurate systemic root cause analysis and preventive measures are implemented.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in facilities management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in common business software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Access) and Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
- Essential skills include Leadership, Communication, Prioritization, and Management of Personnel.
ITAR/EAR Compliance: This role requires lawful access to controlled information, necessitating US Citizenship, US Permanent Residency, or the ability to meet specific contract-related requirements.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with leadership to enhance EH&S programs continuously.
- May oversee a safety team operating on a 24/7 schedule.
- Serve in a leadership capacity for safety committee members and engineering departments to ensure effective execution of EH&S initiatives.
- Participate as a site emergency responder.
