Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our team at Palomar Christian Conference Center. As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for the overall management of our Maintenance department, ensuring the proper maintenance and/or construction of all buildings, grounds, and equipment, as well as all infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work cohesively with the Lead Director and other managers to achieve the mission and strategic vision of Palomar Christian Conference Center.
  • Lead the Maintenance department to serve with excellence in all areas of responsibility, prayerfully guiding the team to achieve their goals.
  • Interview, instruct, train, and supervise all maintenance personnel, recommending hiring or dismissal as needed, and ensuring compliance with OSHA safety regulations.
  • Submit operational and capital improvement budgets for approval, maintaining expenditures within allocated funds, and providing reports and data as requested.
  • Maintain records of expenditures for current construction and repair projects, ensuring timely completion within established timeframes.
  • Inform the Lead Director of major repairs and equipment replacements outside approved budgets, seeking purchase authorization before procurement.
  • Ensure the overall safety of Palomar Christian Conference Center, eliminating fire or safety hazards, and maintaining fire breaks in accordance with CDF recommendations.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of all facilities, grounds, and infrastructure, including repairs, replacements, and maintenance of HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, and plumbing systems.
  • Renovate and refurbish current facilities and infrastructure in an expedient manner, ensuring systems are installed to industry standards.
  • Ensure the integrity of the water system, testing regularly as required by the County Department of Environmental Health, and maintaining records.
  • Ensure fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems are regularly tested and inspected, and properly maintained.
  • Ensure the swimming pool is maintained to county standards.
  • Include all mechanical equipment, including vehicles, dozers, backhoes, golf carts, TVs, and maintenance tools and equipment, in the preventative maintenance program, and service regularly.
  • Serve as project manager for building construction and/or renovation projects, securing permits as applicable from the County of San Diego.
  • Work with construction and maintenance volunteers, providing instructions and necessary tools and materials.
  • Provide utilities to point-of-use as requested by departments.
  • Ensure firewood is prepared and ready for winter use, and all slash is chipped or prepared for burning.
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and unobstructed workspace, maintaining regular and timely attendance.
  • Participate in the fire evacuation plan for assigned areas, and accept lodging from Palomar Christian Conference Center as a condition of employment.
Requirements
  • Demonstrate a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, exercising faith through daily living in accordance with God's Word.
  • Understand and agree with the mission of Palomar Christian Conference Center and its Statement of Faith, submitting personal goals and desires to the main goal.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as interpersonal skills to maintain positive relations with staff and guests.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills, presenting a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Possess strong attention to detail and organization, managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Be proficient in basic Microsoft applications (Windows, Office, etc.).
  • Possess good managerial and interpersonal skills, being self-directed, flexible, reliable, creative, and a good communicator.
  • Have a journeyman's rating in a construction trade, maintenance technician, or equivalent experience.
  • Have at least five years of experience in maintenance and/or construction responsibilities.
  • Be able to spend extended periods standing, sitting, walking, and lift over the head and bend over.
  • Be able to work in inclement weather conditions such as rain, snow, heat, wind, etc.
