The Procurement Specialist plays a crucial role in placing and expediting purchase orders while maintaining supplier relationships to ensure a steady supply chain, ongoing growth, and optimal profitability. The ideal candidate will possess expertise in global procurement practices, including strategic planning, inventory management, cost control, quality assurance, and effective negotiation and leadership abilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Place and expedite purchase orders to fulfill all customer requirements.
  • Establish and maintain optimal inventory levels while managing excess and obsolete stock.
  • Collaborate directly with internal stakeholders to meet delivery commitments through purchase orders and work orders.
  • Identify issues affecting supplier delivery and quality, initiating corrective measures as necessary.
  • Analyze customer requests for quotes (RFQs), evaluate supplier proposals, and conduct price assessments.
  • Initiate searches for new suppliers and perform evaluations to ensure quality and reliability.
  • Assist the Strategic Sourcing team in reducing costs, consolidating the supplier base, and implementing new suppliers to meet current and future organizational needs.
  • Support new product development from concept through successful launch.
  • Maintain long-term, mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to encourage continuous improvement and feedback.
  • Monitor and forecast key cost drivers for assigned suppliers, taking appropriate actions to manage material and product costs.
  • Exhibit a solid understanding of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) products and their functionalities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management within a distribution environment.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred in supply chain management, business, or a related field.
  • Strong negotiation capabilities.
  • Effective decision-making skills.
  • Experience with AS400 or similar systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Able to solve problems and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications.
