Key Responsibilities
  • Crime Scene Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations of crime scenes, including collecting and preserving physical evidence, documenting the scene, and interviewing witnesses.
  • Evidence Analysis: Analyze evidence collected from crime scenes, including fingerprints, DNA, and other physical evidence, to help identify suspects and solve crimes.
  • Communication: Develop and maintain effective relationships with law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless communication and collaboration.
  • Report Writing: Prepare detailed reports of investigations and forensic analyses, including findings and recommendations.
  • Expert Witness: Present findings and testimony in court as an expert witness.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
  • Experience: One year of forensic experience, including fingerprint analysis, evidence collection and processing, and crime scene photography and documentation, or six months of experience as a Forensic Specialist Trainee.
  • Licenses: Valid Class C California driver's license and an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment.
  • Special Requirements: Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays, and may be required to return to work during non-business hours in emergency situations.
Desirable Qualifications
  • College-level coursework: In Criminal Justice, Forensic Science, Physical/Life Science, or a closely related field.
  • Photography experience: With digital cameras.
