About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineer to lead our roadway design team at Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC). As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of plans and specifications for construction packages, collaborating with project managers and engineers to develop efficient solutions, and providing technical support to the construction team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead Roadway Design Efforts: Prepare plans and specifications for construction packages, ensuring accurate translation of design intent during the construction phase.
  • Collaborate with Project Teams: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and contractors to develop efficient and constructible solutions that align with project goals and timelines.
  • Provide Technical Support: Offer guidance to the construction team during the execution of roadway work, responding to inquiries and resolving on-site design-related challenges.
  • Monitor Project Schedules and Budgets: Collaborate with project management to ensure project deliverables meet quality requirements and are completed on time and within budget.
  • Recruit and Mentor Staff: Assist with the identification and recruitment of key personnel and mentor Civil staff to ensure professional growth and development.
  • Assist with Business Development: Participate in the preparation of proposals for public works pursuits and assist with business development efforts.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering: A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
  • Minimum 5+ Years of Experience: A minimum of 5+ years of experience in roadway design, preferably on large public works or similar infrastructure projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE): A PE license in Civil Engineering is required.
  • Industry Knowledge and Skills: Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of industry codes and standards, as well as experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microstation.
  • Communication and Problem-Solving Skills: Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, as well as strong problem-solving skills to develop innovative and practical design solutions.
