Transportation Engineering Supervisor

We are seeking a highly skilled Transportation Engineering Supervisor to join our team at the Austin District of the Texas Department of Transportation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for supervising personnel engaged in transportation engineering work, ensuring compliance with federal and state laws, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:- Coordinate maintenance matters with Area Engineers and review area office contract submissions.
- Drive and travel to project and work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, and provide technical support.
- Establish, modify, or interpret applicable standards, rules, methods, procedures, practices, and policies.
- Monitor contract performance, evaluate contract deliverables, review billing documentation, and prepare a written evaluation of the consultant's performance.
- Oversee data collection, analyses, forecasts, and plan development.
- Participate in district plan review activities.
- Prepare and submit Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (P.S.&E.) on projects.
- Responsible for the maintenance program.
- Responsible for utility and driveway permits.
- Review change orders, supplemental agreements, memorandum agreements, and extra work orders, review monthly and final estimates prior to submittal.
- Review, coordinate, monitor, and approve routine and emergency maintenance contracts; perform/oversee maintenance specifications writing/review, plans, and proposal review, and preparation of estimates for letting.
- Serve as a consultant to staff engineers regarding maintenance operations as they relate to administration, programming, planning, design, construction, and right-of-way in order to coordinate district operations.
- Supervise professional and administrative staff.
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
- 4 years of experience in transportation engineering. (Experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Related graduate-level education may be substituted for experience on a year-per-year basis.
- Must have one (1) year supervisory/managerial experience. Project leader or lead worker experience may substitute for supervisory/managerial experience.
- Valid driver's license. This position requires driving a state vehicle.
- Licensed Professional Engineer.
