Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiation Therapist to join our team at Intermountain Healthcare. As a Radiation Therapist, you will play a critical role in providing patient-centered care while demonstrating our values of Integrity, Trust, Excellence, Accountability, and Mutual Respect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Verify prescriptions, diagnoses, charts, and patient identification to ensure accurate treatment plans.
  • Explain procedures to patients, reinforcing radiation oncologists' and nurses' instructions regarding reactions to treatment and care.
  • Prepare rooms and equipment for patients according to prescriptions, including immobilization devices, blocks, field sizes, etc.
  • Transfer patients as needed and verify treatment machines and beam energy in treatment charts, noting any prescribed adjustments.
  • Document treatment machines' cumulative dose, site-specific doses, treatment parameters, instructions, diagrams, photos, and all billing information.
  • Perform treatment simulation and all required procedures, including cerrobend block fabrication.
  • Develop x-rays and port films as needed, filing as needed.
  • Observe and inquire about patients' unusual reactions or events.
  • Assist in maintaining order and cleanliness of the unit and maintaining appropriate stock levels.
  • Complete daily, progress, and discharge documentation according to departmental standards and accurately document productivity information.
  • Participate in quality and patient safety initiatives, identifying potential areas for improvement, including processes that could be streamlined or revised to improve patient satisfaction.
  • Identify potential safety hazards that may create problems for patients and/or staff, and take appropriate actions.
  • Document patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record as directed by providers.
  • Escalate non-routine issues, questions, and/or concerns to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s).
  • Ensure safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required.
Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited radiation therapy program.
  • ARRT and RT(T) certifications in radiation therapy and current license in the state of practice (if applicable).
  • Current BLS certification.
