Position Overview:

The Clinical Practice Specialist (CPS) acts as the authority on nursing practices within the designated department or service line. This role is pivotal in fostering a culture that emphasizes high-quality patient care and exceptional service. The CPS employs and imparts evidence-based methodologies to enhance the clinical skills of bedside caregivers.

The CPS will collaborate closely with nursing leadership and clinical educators to evaluate and identify specific practice needs among nurses in the assigned areas, providing tailored clinical interventions for their professional growth. Additionally, the CPS will work alongside the relevant clinical educator to address educational content that corresponds to identified practice gaps.

This position serves as a vital clinical resource for both new nurses and their preceptors, as well as for experienced new hires and Nurse Externs. The CPS plays a crucial role in facilitating patient care by ensuring staff competency at the bedside. Furthermore, the CPS guarantees alignment between clinical practices and care standards, which include Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Minimum: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or currently enrolled in a BSN program
  • Preferred: Clinical Master's degree in Nursing or Clinical Education

Experience:

  • Minimum: Three years of experience in acute care nursing within the specialty area
  • Preferred: Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS), Clinical Educator, or in a supervisory role

Required Certifications:

  • Current Florida Registered Nurse License
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications

  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Proficient in collaboration and teamwork
  • Effective teaching, coaching, and mentoring capabilities
