Cardiovascular Surgery Clinical Practice Specialist

Position Overview:
The Clinical Practice Specialist (CPS) is a pivotal role within the nursing department, focusing on the cardiovascular surgery service line. This position is designed for a nursing professional who will champion quality patient care and service excellence, fostering a culture of clinical proficiency.
The CPS is tasked with utilizing and imparting evidence-based practices to enhance the clinical skills of bedside caregivers. This role is essential in motivating and guiding staff towards achieving a standard of clinical excellence through effective coaching, teaching, and role-modeling of expected behaviors.
Reporting Structure:
The CPS will maintain a collaborative relationship with the Director of Clinical Education and will work closely with nursing leadership and clinical educators to assess and address specific practice needs within the nursing staff. This includes providing targeted clinical interventions to support their professional development.
Clinical Resource Role:
As a clinical resource, the CPS will support both new nurses and their preceptors, as well as experienced hires and Nurse Externs. This role is crucial in facilitating patient care by ensuring that staff possess the necessary bedside competencies. The CPS will also ensure alignment between clinical practices and established standards of care, encompassing areas such as Infection Prevention, Patient Safety, and Patient Experience.
Collaboration:
This individual will work in partnership with various disciplines to enhance and elevate the quality of care delivered at the bedside.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum: Graduate of an accredited nursing program
- Required: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or currently enrolled in a BSN program
- Preferred: Clinical Master's degree in Nursing or Clinical Education
Experience:
- Minimum: Three years of experience in acute care nursing within the specialty area
- Preferred: Previous experience as a Clinical Nurse Specialist or Clinical Educator, along with supervisory experience
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current Florida Registered Nurse License
- Current certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from the American Heart Association
Additional Skills:
Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills are essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and planning abilities, as well as excellent collaboration and teamwork skills. Proficiency in teaching, coaching, and mentoring is also required.
