Role Summary:
As the Director of Surgical Services, you will be accountable for the comprehensive management of the surgical services division, ensuring excellence in patient care, team leadership, and operational performance.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Proactively identify and resolve challenges within the department, applying effective strategies.
- Engage in service, departmental, and organizational committees to promote effective communication.
- Enhance patient satisfaction within the Surgical Services area.
- Provide constructive feedback and mentorship to team members, supporting their professional growth.
- Effectively disseminate departmental and organizational updates to staff.
- Cultivate strong partnerships and networks to meet departmental and organizational objectives.
- Uphold care standards and ensure adherence to compliance regulations.
- Design, implement, and assess ongoing surgical services initiatives to guarantee high-quality patient care.
- Oversee adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and hospital policies, as well as safety protocols.
- Manage a performance improvement program that assesses critical care components.
- Ensure operational excellence by delivering services that meet professional standards.
- Support the development of new program strategies or enhancements to broaden patient services.
- Administer the department's financial resources judiciously.
- Foster a positive patient experience that aligns with the organization's mission and values.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing is mandatory.
- Master's degree in Nursing, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related discipline is preferred.
- A minimum of 3 years of leadership experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Current RN licensure is required in the state of practice.
- CNOR (Certified Nursing Operating Room) certification is preferred.
- CSSM (Certified Surgical Services Manager) certification is preferred.
Additional Insights:
- Manage 14 operating rooms at the primary location, with 3 additional operating rooms at a secondary facility.
- Experience in Level 1 trauma and open-heart surgical procedures is crucial.
- Strong focus on enhancing operational efficiency, reducing room turnaround times, and ensuring timely starts for first cases.
- Prior experience in managing a large surgical services department is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership skills are vital for improving employee and physician engagement.
- Previous experience in a director role is required.
