Position: Family Nurse Practitioner

Location: Bull Run Manassas

Overview: UVA Health's Bull Run Manassas is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to enhance their expanding team. The selected candidate will deliver comprehensive primary health care and execute selective medical services under the supervision of practicing physicians.

Patient Care Responsibilities:

  • Conducts thorough interviews and provides guidance to patients regarding health maintenance and illness prevention.
  • Analyzes information to establish preliminary diagnoses and therapeutic strategies, emphasizing preventive care.
  • Identifies community resources to address patient and family requirements.

Quality Assurance:

  • Collaborates with various departments to achieve optimal quality outcomes.
  • Monitors the quality of essential processes within the department.
  • Implements safety and infection control measures to ensure patient safety.

Communication Skills:

  • Exhibits exceptional interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Works collaboratively within a team to meet patient and organizational objectives.
  • Engages in regular professional communication with colleagues.
  • Participates in routine staff meetings to discuss improvements based on feedback.

Work Schedule:

  • Flexible hours available with a long day shift from 8 AM to 7 PM, Tuesday to Friday. The first appointment starts at 8 AM, and the last appointment concludes at 4:30 PM. Schedules are designed to meet the requirement of 36 hours per week.

On-Call Duties:

  • On-call responsibilities are shared among all providers at Bull Run Family Medicine and associated locations. A professional call service with a triage team is available after hours to manage calls. If necessary, they will escalate to the on-call provider. The current rotation allows for approximately 3-4 weeks of coverage annually.

Medical Expertise:

  • Delivers primary health care and performs specific medical services under the guidance of practice physicians.
  • Gathers comprehensive patient history and physical examination data.
  • Reviews and interprets patient records to determine necessary diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
  • Conducts complete physical examinations and documents findings.
  • Establishes presumptive diagnoses and orders relevant laboratory and diagnostic tests.
  • Executes independent evaluations and treatment procedures in emergency situations.
  • Ensures continuity of care between physician visits.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • May be assigned additional duties as needed.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

  • Ability to successfully complete both generic and department-specific skills validation and competency assessments.
  • Proficient in collaborating with management and physicians; demonstrated customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Physical Demands:

Physical Demand Code: 20A, Nursing

Work Function/Activity: Medium to Heavy Physical Demand

This role requires constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping. Effective communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential. Attention to detail and legible writing are necessary. The ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs is required. For any weight exceeding 35 lbs., safe handling equipment must be utilized.
