UVA Health System is seeking a dedicated Nurse Practitioner to enhance our expanding practice. The selected candidate will deliver comprehensive primary healthcare and execute specific medical services under the supervision of our experienced physicians.
Patient Care Responsibilities:
- Conducts thorough interviews and provides guidance to patients on health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Analyzes data to formulate initial diagnoses and treatment plans based on preventive care principles.
- Suggests community resources to address the needs of patients and their families.
Quality Assurance:
- Collaborates with various departments to ensure optimal quality outcomes.
- Monitors the quality of essential processes within the department.
- Implements safety and infection control measures to protect all patients.
Effective Communication:
- Exhibits exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Works collaboratively within a team to achieve shared patient and organizational objectives.
- Engages in regular, professional communication with colleagues.
- Participates in team meetings and identifies areas for process improvement based on feedback.
Work Schedule:
- Flexible scheduling options available with one extended shift per week, providing patient care from 8 AM to 7 PM, Tuesday through Friday. The first appointment begins at 8 AM, and the last appointment concludes at 4:30 PM. **Schedules are arranged to meet the requirement of 36 hours per week.**
On-Call Duties:
- On-call responsibilities are shared among all providers at Bull Run Family Medicine, with support from a professional call service that includes a triage team available after hours. The current rotation allows for approximately 3-4 weeks of on-call coverage per year.
Medical Expertise:
- Delivers primary healthcare and performs selective medical services under the guidance of practice physicians.
- Collects comprehensive patient histories and physical assessments.
- Reviews and interprets patient records to determine necessary diagnostic and therapeutic actions.
- Conducts complete physical examinations and documents findings.
- Establishes preliminary diagnoses and orders relevant laboratory and diagnostic tests.
- Executes independent evaluations and treatment in emergency scenarios.
- Ensures continuity of care between physician visits.

- Daily Duties of the Provider:
- Gathers complete patient histories and physical data.
- Reviews patient records for pertinent information.
- Interprets and integrates data to determine appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
- Conducts thorough physical examinations and records findings.
- Establishes presumptive diagnoses and orders necessary laboratory tests.
- Performs independent evaluations and emergency treatment procedures.
- Maintains continuity of care between physician visits.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to successfully complete both generic and department-specific skills validation and competency assessments.
- Capability to collaborate effectively with management and physicians, demonstrating strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

This role requires constant standing, frequent walking, and bending/stooping. Proficient communication, auditory, and visual skills are essential. Attention to detail and legible writing are necessary. The ability to lift, push, or pull up to 100 lbs is required, with Safe Handling Equipment used for any weight exceeding 35 lbs.
