Position Summary
The CDL Driver I is responsible for delivering materials to various job sites, ensuring the safe operation of the vehicle, conducting inspections, and maintaining accurate logs. This role typically involves driving trucks with a capacity exceeding three tons, and may include less experienced drivers of commercial vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Contribute to a positive work environment.
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as required.
  • Prepare and maintain DOT-required logs of driving and duty time.
  • Organize and secure loads effectively.
  • Assist with loading operations alongside forklift operators.
  • Verify order accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Deliver and unload materials to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment.
  • Document returned merchandise and assist with unloading for credit.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation guidelines.
  • Provide outstanding customer service.
  • Communicate customer messages while on-site.
  • Support supervisors and colleagues as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the yard and warehouse.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts.
  • Keep the vehicle clean and well-maintained.
  • Engage in assigned training programs.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience Requirements
  • Preferred experience with CDL.
  • Basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers is required.
  • 1-3 years of CDL experience is necessary for interstate commerce.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to perform basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, colleagues, and supervisors.
  • Capability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues.
  • Maintain a current operator's license and meet driver qualification standards.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
  • Proficiency in using current technologies such as smartphones and GPS.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Class A CDL License is required or
  • Class B CDL License is required.
