Position Summary
The CDL Driver I is responsible for transporting materials to various job sites, ensuring the safe operation of the vehicle, conducting inspections, and maintaining the truck. This role involves reporting any shortages or claims to the supervisor and assisting in the loading and unloading of materials. The driver typically operates a truck with a capacity exceeding three tons, though less experienced drivers may also be considered.

Compensation
Pay Rate: $33.65-$40.87/hr.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure safe operation of the vehicle.
  • Contribute to a positive work atmosphere.
  • Maintain a valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License as necessary.
  • Complete DOT-required logs for time on duty and driving.
  • Organize and secure loads effectively.
  • Assist forklift operators during loading processes.
  • Verify order accuracy prior to delivery.
  • Deliver and unload materials, ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct daily pre-inspections of equipment.
  • Document all merchandise returned by truck and assist with unloading materials for credit.
  • Adhere to Department of Transportation guidelines.
  • Provide exceptional customer service.
  • Communicate messages from customers while on the job.
  • Support supervisors and colleagues as needed.
  • Help maintain cleanliness in the yard and warehouse.
  • Follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Safely operate truck-mounted forklifts.
  • Keep the truck clean and well-maintained.
  • Engage in and complete assigned training programs.
Educational Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
Experience Requirements
  • Preferred experience with CDL.
  • Basic experience with flatbeds and/or tractor trailers is required.
  • 1-3 years of CDL experience is necessary for interstate commerce.
Skills and Competencies
  • Ability to perform basic math, read orders, write instructions, and complete forms.
  • Effective communication skills with customers, colleagues, and supervisors, both verbally and in writing.
  • Capability to handle conflicts constructively and identify potential issues.
  • Maintain a current operator's license and meet company driver qualification standards.
  • Knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
  • Proficiency with or willingness to learn current technologies (e.g., smartphones, GPS, and other business applications).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Class A CDL License required or
  • Class B CDL License required.
