The Pharmacist plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive pharmaceutical care services. As an integral member of the patient care team, the pharmacist brings specialized knowledge in medication safety, therapeutic interventions, and patient education regarding medication management. The Pharmacist is accountable to the Pharmacy Supervisors and Directors, with the work schedule determined by their directives.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Deliver a full spectrum of pharmaceutical care
  • Actively advocate for medication safety
  • Encourage the judicious and cost-effective use of medications
  • Provide pharmaceutical care across diverse patient demographics
  • Conduct thorough medication order and drug therapy evaluations to enhance patient outcomes
  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately
  • Offer drug information and guidance
  • Monitor and assess patient drug therapies
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, patients, and their families to optimize pharmaceutical care
  • Oversee and guide support staff
  • Engage in the training and development of pharmacy personnel
  • Deliver professional services and, when necessary, leadership within the Department, Center, and Community
  • Work alongside management to enhance pharmaceutical care and services
  • In the absence of supervisory staff, assume essential supervisory responsibilities for limited periods
  • Contribute to the ongoing advancement of pharmaceutical care services
  • Readily perform all relevant functions as a recognized expert and leader in the field
EDUCATION, LICENSURE, REGISTRATION AND/OR CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Pharm.D. degree from an ACPE accredited institution
  • Current New York State Pharmacy License
EXPERIENCE:
Experience in health system pharmacy practice is preferred.
