Lead Engineer for Water Resource Management in Alaska

Position Overview:
RESPEC, a leading engineering consulting firm, is in search of a dynamic and skilled Water Resources Lead for our operations in Alaska.
This role encompasses a variety of projects, including hydrology, hydraulic assessments, floodplain evaluations, dam and detention design, channel engineering, bridge hydraulic analysis, stormwater management, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, facilities for fish passage, erosion control strategies, and flood mitigation.
The Water Resources Lead will enhance our water resources initiatives in Alaska, play a crucial role in business development, and oversee project management and engineering tasks.
This distinctive position will manage water resources projects throughout the state while also offering opportunities to engage in projects beyond Alaska.
The successful candidate will collaborate with the firm's market sector leaders on projects spanning various business units, backed by RESPEC's national expertise in water resources.
Projects may involve infrastructure such as bridges and highways, mining operations, state and federal parks, site development, riverbank stabilization and restoration, improvements for fish passage, dams, and more.
The ideal candidate should possess a Bachelor of Science degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field, along with over 10 years of experience in stormwater engineering, including project management responsibilities.
Additionally, the candidate must hold a Professional Engineer license in Alaska.
Essential Qualifications:
- Proven experience in leading engineering teams to deliver outstanding engineering solutions
- Background in mentoring junior engineers in both technical and non-technical aspects of stormwater engineering
- Experience in business development and managing client relationships
- Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics software, including HEC-RAS (1D/2D preferred), HEC-HMS, Autodesk Storm and Sanitary Analysis, USGS PeakFQ, and EPASWMM
- Experience in developing construction plan packages and master planning studies
- Familiarity with FEMA Letters of Map Revision and floodplain mapping
- Competence in AutoCAD/Civil3D and GIS

Compensation:
$110,000 - $160,000 annually (Compensation will be determined based on various factors, including qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience, and may vary from the stated range). The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, vision, and dental insurance; holidays; paid leave; 401(k) and Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP); opportunities for continuing education; and membership in professional societies. RESPEC is a 100% employee-owned company, and employees are eligible for participation in the ESOP after a qualifying period.
