Volt is currently seeking a Crane Maintenance Technician to join our team. This role involves working with a leading company in the lifting industry. Are you proficient in both electrical and mechanical systems? Do you have the ability to operate at significant heights? We are looking for individuals with a mechanical aptitude to fill this position. Our technicians operate in a safety-oriented environment and are comfortable working on mechanical equipment.
As a Crane Maintenance Technician, your responsibilities will include working with 480-volt three-phase motors, diagnosing issues with cranes, and collaborating with clients and facility managers to ensure their requirements are met effectively.
You will enjoy the benefit of returning home each night. A vehicle and fuel card will be provided, eliminating out-of-pocket expenses. Specialty tools will be supplied, although technicians are expected to have their own basic tool set. Our client also offers a discounted tool program for those needing to purchase or replace tools. This is a full-time, DIRECT HIRE position.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electric overhead traveling cranes and hoists at various customer sites. Be available for on-call duties as part of the service office rotation and provide after-hours support.
  • Perform on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic diagnostics to identify the cause of equipment failures and implement necessary repairs using visual assessments, testing procedures, and appropriate testing equipment. Complete a general post-repair audit before finalizing work, ensuring all required safety features are operational or documenting deficiencies with a deficiency tag.
  • Adhere to all established safety protocols and procedures, including those set by the customer.
  • Maintain the company vehicle and uniforms.
  • Engage in monthly safety meetings.
  • Fulfill other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications: An Associate degree in Industrial Electrical/Mechanical Technology or a related field, or equivalent vocational/technical training and experience.
Experience:
  • At least one (1) year of experience in electrical troubleshooting and mechanical repair.
  • Some electronic experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience with cranes is advantageous.
Additional Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and a good driving record. Willingness to work at heights is essential. Flexibility to work varied overtime as required by the customer, be available for on-call duties as part of the service office rotation, and occasionally travel and work out of town.
Must be capable of frequently lifting up to 25 lbs, lifting up to 50 lbs daily, and occasionally lifting up to 75 lbs. Lifting 100 lbs may be required on rare occasions. This position involves frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, and overhead reaching. You will spend approximately 90% of your time indoors and 10% outdoors, with frequent exposure to heat, cold, noise, and heights.
Compensation: $38.00 per hour
