Job Title: Direct Support Professional

Job Summary:

The Direct Support Professional works on an interdisciplinary team that delivers superior quality of service and provides appropriate activities in a safe and healthy environment within the home and community setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients in basic living skills and daily personal tasks, including showers, dressing, housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal preparation, and financial budgeting.
  • Provide transportation to and from activities and appointments as needed, requiring a valid Arkansas driver's license.
  • Maintain good communication with staff regarding client needs and progress toward their plan of care.
  • Accurately complete all documentation required by FCC, including behavioral reports, incident reports, compliance forms, personal care work sheets, requisitions, maintenance forms, progress reports, and monthly attendance logs.
  • Follow proper medication management guidelines and assist in monitoring and documenting these procedures.
  • Organize and carry out recreational activities for clients.
  • Model good behavior and adhere to FCC's dress code and physical appearance standards.
  • Treat clients and their families with dignity and respect at all times.
  • Maintain FCC facilities and grounds, keeping them clean, orderly, and functioning.
  • Assist in maintaining FCC vehicles, ensuring cleanliness and regular preventive maintenance.
  • Attend necessary training and continuing education.
  • Provide proof of liability insurance and keep current.
  • Undergo periodic driving tests and demonstrate proficiency in operating a motor vehicle, including passenger vans.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information received regarding Friendship Community Care, Senior Center Programs, and clients, in compliance with Friendship Community Care's Non-Disclosure Policy and HIPAA Policies.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two+ years experience working with developmentally disabled individuals.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation with state minimum liability insurance.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Work Environment:

The work environment is typically moderate, with a focus on providing a safe and healthy environment for clients. This is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to pass background checks, drug screens, and maintain a clean driving record.
