Position Summary:

The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine's Department of Surgery is in search of a board-certified or board-eligible urologic surgeon with a specialization in pediatrics to join our esteemed Department of Surgery. This recruitment is for an open rank and open track position, with salary and rank determined by qualifications and experience.

Currently, the UNM Division of Urology includes two fellowship-trained pediatric urologists who provide comprehensive services across the state. The division also features specialists in oncology, reconstruction, robotics, endourology, and renal transplantation. This role will involve close collaboration with the residency program. The UNM Division of Urology and Department of Surgery are equipped with a robust infrastructure of services and resources designed to support academic ambitions, with leadership opportunities readily available.

UNM caters to a large, medically complex population and serves as a consultative resource for New Mexico and the Four Corners region of the Southwest United States. Pediatric clinical services are offered through the main UNM Hospital, outpatient clinics, and a dedicated pediatric operating room. The UNM Health Science Center (HSC) is the largest academic health complex in New Mexico and the only Level 1 trauma center in the state, also serving as the sole site for urologic residency training.

New Mexico, known as the Land of Enchantment, boasts the vibrant city of Albuquerque, which is surrounded by mountains and mesas, making it ideal for year-round outdoor activities such as running, hiking, biking, golfing, and skiing. The state is rich in multicultural diversity, offering excellent local cuisine, stunning sunsets, and numerous cultural and historical sites, alongside its natural beauty including lakes, rivers, deserts, and mountains.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/eligible in Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fellowship trained in pediatric urology
  • Experience in managing general pediatric urology disease processes
