Position Summary:

The University of New Mexico (UNM) School of Medicine's Department of Surgery is actively seeking a board-certified or board-eligible urologic surgeon with a specialization in pediatrics to join our esteemed team. This role is open to candidates at various ranks and tracks, with compensation and rank aligned with qualifications and experience.

Currently, the UNM Division of Urology is home to two fellowship-trained pediatric urologists who provide comprehensive services across the state. The division also encompasses specialized urologists with expertise in oncology, reconstruction, robotics, endourology, and renal transplantation. This position will involve close collaboration with the residency program, ensuring a robust educational environment.

UNM serves a diverse and medically complex population, acting as a consultative resource for New Mexico and the surrounding Four Corners region. Pediatric clinical services are delivered through the main UNM Hospital, Carrie Tingley Outpatient Clinics, and a dedicated pediatric operating room adjacent to the adult hospital. The UNM Health Science Center (HSC) stands as the largest academic health complex in New Mexico and is the sole Level 1 trauma center in the state, also serving as the exclusive site for urologic residency training.

Located in Albuquerque, NM, a city renowned for its stunning landscapes and outdoor recreational opportunities, the HSC integrates education, research, patient care, and community outreach to provide top-tier healthcare to New Mexicans.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Medical Doctor or equivalent
  • Board-certified/eligible in Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Eligible for licensure in New Mexico
  • Eligible for State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification
  • Eligible for federal DEA registration
  • Authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fellowship trained in pediatric urology
  • Experience in managing general pediatric urology disease processes
