Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will provide respiratory therapy as prescribed by a Physician, preparing and operating respiratory care equipment, and ensuring accurate and complete Physician prescriptions.

• Provides respiratory therapy as prescribed by a Physician, preparing and operating respiratory care equipment.
• Ensures accurate and complete Physician prescriptions, comparing prescription requests with medical record order forms and clarifying any discrepancies with the Physician.
• Provides prescribed respiratory therapy, performing vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements, administering various oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators, and monitoring oxygen-supported ambulation.
• Maintains mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, testing ventilators for functioning of monitors, oxygen blenders, alarms, and leaks, and conducting quick extended and/or short self-tests.
• Reports major equipment problems to management and performs related duties as required.

• Associate's Degree required, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State, and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State required, plus specialized certifications as needed.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience required, with ACLS and BLS certification.
