Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and respiratory therapy services to patients in our critical care unit.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides respiratory therapy as prescribed by a Physician, including preparing, operating, and maintaining respiratory care equipment.
  • Ensures accurate and complete Physician prescriptions, comparing requests with medical record order forms and clarifying any discrepancies.
  • Provides prescribed respiratory therapy, including administering oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators.
  • Performs vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements, as well as monitors oxygen-supported ambulation and provides nasotracheal or artificial airway suctioning.
  • Maintains mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, testing for functioning and troubleshooting minor repairs and calibrations.
Requirements
  • Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in respiratory therapy, with ACLS and BLS certification.
