Respiratory Therapist

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at Northwell Health. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for providing respiratory therapy as prescribed by a Physician, preparing and operating respiratory care equipment, and ensuring accurate and complete Physician prescriptions.

• Provides respiratory therapy as prescribed by a Physician, including administering oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices, and mechanical ventilators.
• Ensures accurate and complete Physician prescriptions, comparing prescription requests with medical record order forms and clarifying any discrepancies with the Physician.
• Provides patient education and support, including respiratory education and counseling.
• Performs vital capacity, inspiratory force, and peak flow measurements, as well as monitors oxygen-supported ambulation and performs chest physical therapy.
• Maintains mechanical ventilators and respiratory therapy equipment, including testing ventilators for functioning and troubleshooting mechanical problems.

• Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Current License to practice as a Respiratory Therapist in New York State and Current Respiratory Therapist (NBRC) Certification in New York State.
• 1-3 years of relevant experience in respiratory therapy.

• Full Breathing Test, PFT (Spiro/Nioxx), and 6 Minute Walk Test Vitals and scanning.
