Job Summary

The US Department of Health and Human Services is seeking a highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist to join our team. As a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory test results, which are essential for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests and examinations to support patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Maintain professional knowledge and proficiency in medical technology, including staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and procedures.
  • Work on a rotational or callback basis, performing duties such as performing procedures of a routine and complex nature in all clinical laboratory sections.
  • Prepare reagents and controls, assist in maintaining quality control, and perform analysis that is reviewed by senior staff.
  • Perform electronic standardization procedures for computer instrument function testing and perform phlebotomy.
Requirements
  • A Bachelor's or graduate/higher level degree from a regionally accredited college/university, including courses in biological science, chemistry, and mathematics.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
  • Five years of full-time acceptable clinical laboratory experience in Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory environment, with frequent exposure to chemicals, biological agents, and other hazardous materials. The selected individual must be able to lift and move equipment and supplies as needed.
