Primary Care Physician Opportunity in Northern Arizona
This position is located in the Land of Enchantment, where the Hopi and Navajo Nations meet. If you are fascinated by Native Culture and enjoy the outdoors, this assignment is for you.
You will be working in a 60-bed hospital that serves as the healthcare hub for the region. The medical staff includes Family Physicians, Internists, Pediatricians, General Surgeons, OB/GYN's, Anesthesiologists, and a Psychiatrist.
Healthcare services are provided to approximately 37,000 active users. Strong Navajo cultural traditions exist within the community, offering an opportunity to learn the Navajo language or to learn about traditional Navajo medicine.
The service unit is located on the Colorado Plateau with excellent opportunities for photography, hiking, running, road biking, cross-country skiing, and mountain biking.
Canyon de Chelly National Monument is within 5 miles of the hospital and is a wonderful place for exploration and sightseeing, running, and mountain biking.
Responsibilities:
- See patients for general medicine problems, including performing the history and physical exam, making electronic progress notes, scheduling return visits, writing orders for lab and x-ray, prescribing medications, etc.
- Function as a primary care provider, requesting consultations from specialists and subspecialists as indicated.
- Participate in quality management activities that pertain to your duties.
- Hold routine administrative duties.
- Participate in clinical conferences for staff and attend medical staff and service-level meetings.
- Enter orders and prescriptions electronically using the Computerized Patient Records System and electronically sign all.
- Complete electronic clinical reminders in accordance with IHS policy and procedures using the CPRS.
Requirements:
- Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Medicine.
- Must have a current license to practice medicine in any state, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States or District of Columbia.
- Must have current certification in Basic Life Support as certified by the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Must be graduated from an accredited medical school (degree being either MD or DO).
- Completion of a Residency in Family Medicine.
