This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment; Connection Systems business unit.

About this Position:

Aptiv's Connection Systems team has an exciting opportunity for a Product Engineer developing the terminal portfolio for power/signal connections and high-speed data cable assemblies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop cutting-edge connection system technology for automotive applications.
  • Expand terminal portfolio to meet technical specifications per OEM and Tier customers.
  • Ensure terminal system developments meet internal targets for manufacturability, cost, and material usage.
  • Responsible for product design and management from concept to approved production design, including:
    • Prototype and Proof of Concept.
    • Validation.
    • Proper Documentation of Engineering Activities per APTIV EOS.
    • Production Implementation.
  • Interact with internal and external customers, suppliers, and management to ensure seamless product launches and proper communication channels.
  • Collaborate with team members on:
    • Project Execution.
    • Root Cause Analysis and Problem Solving.
    • Design of Experiments.
  • Participate and/or lead internal and external design reviews.
  • Ensure compliance with customer-specific requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Other Engineering.
  • 1-4 years of applicable experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Six-Sigma certification or equivalent.
  • Automotive connector/terminal design experience.
  • Automotive validation experience (USCAR, GMW, TSC, etc.).
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio, etc.).
  • Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
  • Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team.
  • Ability to effectively organize, prioritize, and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions, and solve problems independently.
  • Resourcefully innovate and adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
