With guidance from departmental leadership, the coordinator ensures that project objectives are met within established timelines and budgetary constraints.

The role involves executing project plans while adhering to best practices in project management, ensuring the quality and accuracy of information throughout the project lifecycle.

Focus areas for this position include assessing project performance, fostering long-term value, and evaluating financial returns on investment, alongside assisting the Director of Innovation in the daily operations of the Center for Innovation and Tech Hub.


Key Responsibilities
  • Under the supervision of management, ensure project results align with customer expectations.
  • Communicate project updates effectively to stakeholders through designated channels and timelines.
  • Facilitate project meetings to achieve consensus on objectives and outcomes.

Project Management Functions
  • Assist in planning and organizing project activities.
  • Help define the scope and objectives of projects.
  • Identify timelines, budget limitations, and procedures for project execution in accordance with Portfolio and Process Management Office guidelines.
  • Schedule project deliverables, milestones, and necessary tasks.

Quality and Safety Responsibilities
  • Establish a quality plan for projects, incorporating PMO testing standards.
  • Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies under management's guidance.
  • Follow established standards and procedures for project initiation, planning, execution, control, monitoring, and closure as defined by the Portfolio & Process Management Office.

Financial Management Duties
  • Prepare Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) documentation and assist IT Financial Analysts with the approval process.
  • Manage Purchase Orders (PO) and invoices throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all project expenditures are closed at project completion.

Professional Development
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing the Portfolio & Process Management Office and participate in improvement initiatives.
  • Actively manage personal professional growth and complete the Individual Development Plan (IDP).

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, or a related field with a focus on information technology, or four years of experience managing small to medium-scale projects in lieu of a degree.
  • No prior experience required if possessing a relevant Bachelor's degree.

Preferred Certifications
  • PMP - Certified Project Management Professional (PMI).

Skills and Competencies
  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to multitask and manage various projects in a collaborative environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of facilitating meetings effectively.
  • Solid understanding of current technologies and business needs, fostering a high level of customer trust and confidence.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Work Environment
  • Business professional attire is required.
  • May require travel within and outside the Houston Metropolitan area.
