About the Opportunity

North Shore Community Development Coalition (NSCDC) is a regional, nonprofit organization dedicated to investing in neighborhoods to create thriving communities. We envision a North Shore where every neighborhood is one of choice and opportunity. Our neighborhood revitalization model focuses on projects that have lasting benefits for entire neighborhoods with need-based programs that build future city leaders and self-sufficient residents.

We offer a unique opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Success Coach. In this role, you will provide support to opportunity youth ages 16-24 from the beginning of the program throughout their entire stay at YouthBuild North Shore. Your primary responsibility will be to provide participants with career exploration, job readiness services, and relevant job placements and career-building opportunities.

Main Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the Future Success class for YouthBuild participants
  • Assist YouthBuild staff and students to identify and schedule career-related guest speakers, site visits, job shadow experiences, and informational interviews
  • Meet with students at regular intervals to learn their job and career goals or immediate needs
  • Plan and organize job search skills workshops including interviewing, resume preparation, and other skills
  • Work with Success Manager in marketing the program to potential employers
  • Deliver oral presentations as requested to employers/industry associations
  • Follow-up with employers after a participant is placed in employment or internship to ensure the participant is meeting expectations and identify additional skills participants may need to meet employer demand
  • Complete reports for department and grants
  • Assist with the coordination of special projects, events, and activities as required
Requirements
  • Must be enthusiastic and resourceful
  • High energy and motivation to help young people succeed
  • Excellent writing and interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with others
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and Google
  • Excellent time management and customer service skills
  • Ability to relate sensitively to a multiracial and multicultural group of young people
  • Organized, capable of handling multiple requests and tasks, detail-oriented, excellent at follow-through, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to be flexible as specific tasks will change with the evolution of the program
  • Valid Drivers License and comfortable driving 15-passenger van
