Lead Pediatric Echocardiography Specialist

Position Overview:
The Lead Pediatric Echocardiography Specialist will undertake a range of technical and investigative duties associated with the Pediatric Cardiology Echo Department.
Work Schedule:
Part-time position requiring 24 hours weekly, focusing on senior pediatric echocardiography services across various outreach clinics.
Compensation:
Eligible candidates may receive a sign-on bonus of up to $2500.
Qualifications:
Educational Background:
Completion of a vocational education program and graduation from an accredited Echocardiography training institution is essential.
Experience Requirements:
A minimum of three years of relevant cardiology experience is preferred, with at least one year dedicated to pediatric echocardiography under the supervision of a board-certified pediatric cardiologist.
Essential Skills and Knowledge:
Must hold registration from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical/Cardiac Sonography (ARDMS) or equivalent, with specific credentials in pediatrics or congenital cardiac sonography. Candidates should exhibit respect, sensitivity, patience, and self-control in all interactions.
Licenses and Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required upon hire.
Key Responsibilities:
Echocardiogram Procedures:
- Conduct echocardiograms on complex pediatric patients with congenital heart conditions in both inpatient and outpatient environments efficiently.
- Execute all necessary modalities for standard and research echocardiograms in accordance with established protocols.
- Perform Holter monitor setups and EKGs as required.
- Utilize both online and offline analysis systems proficiently.
- Ensure timely analysis and strive for precision, consistently reviewing work to maintain high-quality standards.
- Gather all relevant patient information for echocardiographic studies.
- Ensure that all studies are completed accurately and billed in a timely manner.
- Volunteer for research initiatives and assist physicians and fellows with ongoing projects.
- Collect necessary data and support the echocardiography director with telemedicine and advanced imaging studies.
- Report any equipment issues to the supervisor promptly.
- Notify the supervisor regarding low supply levels.
- Maintain cleanliness of echo machines and probes between patient uses.
- Ensure a tidy and organized work environment within the echo lab.
- Demonstrate reliability and punctuality in all duties.
- Perform echocardiograms, EKGs, and Holter monitors efficiently.
- Manage high patient volumes effectively.
- Collaborate well with healthcare professionals and families.
- Keep clinics adequately stocked with necessary supplies.
- Participate in on-call responsibilities and collaborate effectively with cardiologists.
- Mentor junior technicians and fellows in performing echocardiograms on complex cases.
- Guide junior staff in obtaining quality studies and using echocardiography equipment.
