Job Summary:

As an Assistant Manager of Social Services, you will play a vital role in supporting the Manager or Director of Social Services in managing the daily operations of a Social Services department. You will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of social work programs and services, ensuring quality management, and providing clinical leadership and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Social Services Policies: Plan, develop, implement, maintain, and evaluate social services policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational standards.
  • Deliver Social Work Programs: Deliver social work programs and services to patients and communities, ensuring that services are provided in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manage Staff: Manage staff, including those deployed to multiple departments and locations, to ensure that they have the necessary skills and competencies to perform their duties.
  • Provide Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical leadership and supervision to staff, ensuring that they have the necessary support and resources to provide high-quality services.
  • Develop Quality Management Programs: Develop and implement quality management programs for social services, including monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of services.
  • Assess Staff Development Needs: Assess and analyze staff development needs, identifying areas for training and professional development.
  • Develop Educational Services: Develop and present educational services to support high-quality social work delivery, including training and workshops.
  • Manage Departmental Budget: Manage departmental budget and costs, identifying opportunities for improved services and cost reduction.
  • Collaborate with HR: Collaborate with human resources to manage employee performance issues and safety and risk management.
  • Analyze Staffing Levels: Analyze and implement staffing levels and skill-mix to ensure that services are provided in a timely and effective manner.
  • Develop New Programs: Recommend and develop new programs to enhance quality of care and services, including community-based programs.
  • Participate in Grant Proposals: Participate in writing and developing grant proposals to secure funding for social services programs.
  • Collaborate with Community Organizations: Identify community resources and collaborate with community organizations to develop new programs and services.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Clinical Social Work Experience: Minimum three (3) years of clinical social work experience.
  • Management Experience: Minimum two (2) years of management experience.
  • Education: Masters degree in Social Work from an institution accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.
  • Licensure: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (California) required.
  • Provider Identifier: National Provider Identifier required.
Additional Requirements:
  • Fiscal and Program Management: Demonstrated ability to utilize knowledge, principles, and practices of fiscal and program management.
  • Social Services Knowledge: Demonstrated knowledge of social services treatment/delivery issues and theories of human development and psycho dynamics.
  • Partnership Environment: Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Social Work Supervision Experience: One (1) year of social work supervision experience in an acute hospital setting.
