Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled PACS Administrator to join our team at Northern Light Radiology Associates, Inc. As a key member of our Information Technology Department, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our departmental PACS equipment, ensuring seamless image workflow, archiving, and auto-routing.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage PACS Operations: Assume responsibility for day-to-day PACS operations, including image workflow, archiving, auto-routing, prefetching, and other related activities.
  • Ensure System Security: Manage and coordinate system security to prevent unauthorized access to vital information.
  • Assign User Access: Assign and update user and system passwords and access levels.
  • Maintain Equipment: Perform regular inspections to ensure all equipment is well maintained and operating in a safe work environment.
  • Perform Backups: Perform backups as needed to ensure data integrity.
  • Ensure Study Flow: Ensure studies are flowing from modalities to the archive and to reading stations through various interfaces and processing queues.
  • Fix Broken Studies: Fix broken and corrupted studies, and split and merge studies as needed.
  • Update System Configuration: Update the system configuration as new modalities, workstations, and procedure codes are added.
  • Investigate Operational Issues: Investigate, identify, and prepare proposals to solve operational problems within clinical imaging areas.
  • Validate Network and Operational Management: Ensure validation of details and be responsible for network and operational management of the Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
  • Assist with Implementation and Upgrades: Assist with implementation, day-to-day operations, and upgrades as necessary to maintain the system at optimal performance.
  • Capture Image Data: Ensure timely and complete capture of image data into the PACS, as well as network transmissions, information system validation, and exception handling.
  • Provide Training and Support: Provide input to direct manager and appropriate business unit managers to assist in identifying present and future needs for PACS equipment, assist end users with PACS-related issues, provide support and application maintenance, and train new hires and clinicians.
  • Maintain Secure Records: Maintain secure records of all PACS equipment.
  • Oversee PACS Integrations: Oversee PACS integrations, including DICOM and HL7, dictionary database structure set up and maintenance, application and hardware redundancy procedures, downtime protocols, and archival strategies for PACS clinical data.
  • Perform Quality Control: Perform QC as indicated for PACS-related hardware and in accordance with departmental regulatory requirements, and perform testing for upgrades and problem-solving during implementations, simulation, and support phases of the PACS and related departmental Information Systems.
  • Oversee Vendor Activities: Oversee activities of vendors in all phases of installation, implementation, and training for new systems, applications, and upgrades.
  • Participate in On-Call Rotations: Participate in on-call rotations covering 24x7x365.
  • Conduct Workflow Analysis: Conduct workflow analysis and optimization.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems/Technology: Preferred
  • Minimum 3 Years' Image Archive and/or PACS Experience: Required
  • Solid Understanding of Clinical Workflow: Solid understanding of clinical workflow within one or more clinical service lines and how it relates to Medical Imaging and PACS
  • Excellent Attention to Detail: Excellent attention to detail, project management skills, and applications training skills
  • Experience with Merge, Aidoc, and Solventum (mModal): Strongly preferred
