Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Nuclear Medicine Technologist 2 to join our team at the University of Miami. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will be responsible for performing complex diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in Nuclear Medicine. Your expertise will be essential in obtaining high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing radiation exposure.

Key Responsibilities:

Obtain and examine orders for Nuclear Medicine scans to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Verify patient information and ensure that orders are appropriate for the type of exam recommended by the physician.

Identify patient service requirements and establish personal rapport with patients and other individuals to understand their needs.

Perform complex specialized tasks associated with the operation of Nuclear Medicine scanners and related equipment, adhering to prescribed radiation safety procedures.

Integrate diagnostic, laboratory results, patient history, and medical records to adapt exams as necessary and maintain high-quality standards.

Assist radiologists with imaging procedures, starting IVs, and injecting contrast, if applicable.

Evaluate Nuclear Medicine scans for technical quality, collate processed images, and label them appropriately. Film/transmit to PACS.

Schedule patients for procedures, assist with clerical functions, and charge procedures and supplies in UChart/Radiant.

Dispense radiopharmaceuticals orally, as per approved protocol, and load and operate power injectors for contrast media administration.

Maintain accurate patient records and provide assistance with orientation and training of new Nuclear Medicine Technologists.

Provide education and training to student technologists and apply physical age-specific and/or developmental care needs of patients according to their documented physical/developmental requirements.

Perform basic nursing functions in patient care, assist with bedpans, emesis basins, etc., and assume care for physical and psychological needs of patients during scanning procedures.

Keep work areas clean and sanitary, stock exam/dressing rooms with required supplies, and provide on-call coverage.

Report unusual findings in a timely manner to appropriate Radiologist/Supervisory personnel and adhere to hospital/department HR policies and regulatory body guidelines.

Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Graduate of a Nuclear Medicine Technology accredited program.

NMTCB or ARRT-N registered.

Valid State of Florida License as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist.

Valid State of Florida License as a General Radiographer or Basic X-Ray Machine Operator required.

CPR and BLS certification required.

Three (3) years of relevant experience required.
