Detroit Medical Center is in search of a dedicated Radiologic Imaging Specialist to join our team in Commerce Township, Michigan.

Position Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic imaging procedures using advanced radiological equipment while ensuring the highest standards of patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct diagnostic imaging examinations in accordance with established protocols.
  • Verify patient identity and review medical records to confirm the appropriateness of procedures.
  • Engage with patients to gather and update medical histories, assessing any risk factors.
  • Clearly explain procedures to patients, addressing potential side effects and alternatives.
  • Prepare and operate imaging equipment to capture high-quality images.
  • Review and interpret images, documenting any deviations from standard protocols and communicating findings to the radiologist.
  • Respond effectively to medical emergencies as they arise.
  • Provide post-procedure care instructions as directed by physicians.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the radiology department.
  • Offer educational support to residents, student technologists, and new staff members.
  • Be available for on-call duties as required by departmental needs.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography (R).
  • Completion of Basic Life Support (BLS) training by the end of the orientation period.
Essential Skills
  • Strong analytical and clinical skills to determine appropriate imaging techniques based on patient needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities to effectively interact with patients and healthcare team members.
  • Technical proficiency in operating specialized imaging equipment and related software.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical stamina for tasks that require standing, lifting, and positioning patients.
  • Manual dexterity and visual acuity to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
