Three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM. PA CNA Certification is required. The Cardiology Intensive Care Unit/Progressive Care Unit comprises a 24-bed facility in the newly constructed patient pavilion.
Certain roles focus on intensive care unit patients, while others cater to progressive care patients. Staff will receive cross-training to manage both levels of care.Our nursing team, recognized with a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence by the AACN, collaborates with multiple disciplines to deliver outstanding care to our patients.
We handle a wide range of diagnoses, including cardiogenic shock, severe cardiac arrhythmias, acute myocardial infarction, advanced heart failure, congenital cardiac issues, postpartum cardiac conditions, pulmonary hypertension, acute coronary syndrome, and more.
Our team manages critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and treatment, including central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheters, mechanical ventilation, intra-aortic balloon pumps, continuous renal replacement therapy, targeted temperature management, and various vasoactive medications.
The Cardiology ICU/PCU primarily serves medical cardiology patients, overseeing care before durable VAD implantation, organ transplants, and repeat admissions, distinct from recovery areas post-cardiothoracic surgery.
We also provide care for patients before and after cardiac catheterizations, electrophysiology procedures, and other minimally invasive cardiac interventions.Position Overview:
The Patient Care Technician assists in the healthcare process by gathering and reporting patient information while adhering to organizational competencies under the direct supervision of Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepares examination rooms for patient evaluations.
• Ensures adequate inventory of medical supplies and necessary items in examination areas, employing appropriate inventory control methods, and ordering supplies to maintain continuous patient care.
• Aids in data collection for nursing assessments (vital signs, height, weight, blood sugar levels, functional status) and promptly communicates any changes to the RN or CRNP.
• Provides relevant patient and family information to the RN or CRNP for coordinated care.• Retrieves supplies from medical vendors or internal sources and secures stock items in designated locations.
• Delivers patient-specific items to the assigned RN or CRNP.• Maintains a safe environment, monitoring patients at risk for falls, confusion, disorientation, wandering, or suicidal tendencies.
• Participates in staff meetings and performs periodic quality control on urinalysis and pregnancy tests.• Assists the physician or CRNP during physical examinations and documents findings and patient results in the electronic medical record.
• Evaluates nursing care by comparing the patient's functional status over time and discussing findings with the nursing staff.Qualifications:
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (Required)
• Certified Nurse Aide (Required) - CNA Certification by the State of Pennsylvania
• Education or Equivalent Experience: H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
