GENERAL OVERVIEW: The main responsibility involves quality validation testing and oversight of CRSP indexes and associated processes, financial research data, and software solutions. Expertise in handling intricate data is essential, along with experience using industry-standard Quality Assurance tools for developing test cases, executing tests, and managing defects. The ideal candidate will possess strong quantitative and analytical abilities, capable of comprehending complex corporate actions and assessing their effects on CRSP Index Systems. A background in finance, including knowledge of indexing and an understanding of corporate actions and their influence on securities and their indexes, is crucial for success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Analyze and clarify requirements, formulate a testing strategy to thoroughly address the requirements, create high-level test scenarios that reflect the strategy, and develop detailed test cases from these scenarios.
  2. Effectively diagnose issues reported internally and by clients, providing clear and accurate reports to relevant parties.
  3. Add and update functional test cases in the regression test suite to ensure comprehensive coverage.
  4. Enhance and maintain the test data necessary for executing regression test suites, ensuring data integrity and relevance.
  5. Evaluate, document, and test software to confirm functionality and performance according to specifications and requirements.
  6. Design, build, execute, and maintain automated testing suites, conducting analysis on data discrepancies and root causes in testing outcomes.
  7. Maintain subject matter expertise for the systems under evaluation and leverage that expertise to create, maintain, and expand the test case library.
  8. Collaborate with the project team to comprehend requirements and contribute to project definition.
  9. Assist in ongoing improvement initiatives to boost testing efficiency and effectiveness.
  10. Work collaboratively with PMs, CRSP developers, Business Analysts, QAs, and other stakeholders to balance ideal testing with available resources and establish long-term quality objectives.
  11. Present effectively to superiors regarding areas of responsibility (e.g., test cases and test execution).
  12. Other responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in Business, Finance, Economics, or Computer Science.
  2. A minimum of 2 years of quality assurance or relevant experience is required.
  3. Experience in creating test plans, test cases, and test data is essential.
  4. Familiarity with financial research and investment concepts and terminology is preferred.
  5. Proficient in SQL is required.
  6. Knowledge of statistical software packages such as SAS, Python, or other third-party software is preferred.
  7. Experience with automated testing software is advantageous.
  8. Exposure to PowerShell scripts or other shell scripting is preferred.
  9. Familiarity with GIT, JIRA, and XRay is preferred.
  10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  11. Strong interpersonal skills are essential.
  12. Familiarity with the basic concepts of agile software development is preferred.
  13. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving, and organizational skills are required.
  14. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple activities are necessary.
  15. Proficiency in MS Office applications is required.
