We are seeking a highly skilled Techincal Specialist for our ATIP maintenance group. This group supports various railroad transportation activities to ensure safe rail systems for the Federal Railroad Administration and railroad companies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inspect, troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair rail vehicle and subsystems (Electrical, mechanical, and optical systems)
  • Install and upgrade measurement systems, inspect, repair, and calibrate them
  • Coordinate with design engineering for failure analysis, root cause analysis, and product improvement
  • Analyze and repair mechanical, electrical, subsystems, and components
  • Communicate with work groups, report on actions taken, and complete technical reports
  • Use and update drawings and diagrams for repairs and builds

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in electrical, mechanical, or electromechanical fields, or welding/fabrication
  • Ability to read schematics and wiring diagrams for various systems
  • Effective troubleshooting skills for electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic, or hydraulic systems
  • Competence in using electronic test equipment, including multi-meters, oscilloscopes, function generators, power supplies, and network analyzers
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools for technical report preparation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license and various safety training certificates
  • Travel of 25% or more per month

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work long hours (up to 12 hours) and perform physical tasks
  • Lift and carry 50 lbs. for extended periods
  • Work at heights and climb ladders
  • Ability to distinguish between colored lights and work in tight spaces
  • Work in inclement weather and project a professional attitude
  • Ability to hear train sounds and warnings
