Job Summary

The University of Central Oklahoma is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Assistant to join the Wellness and Sport department. As a Graduate Assistant, you will have the opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge to practical experiences, working closely with the department to develop and implement programs that promote physical activity and wellness.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the oversight of fitness and front desk student staff, ensuring a high level of customer service and program delivery.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of programs that promote physical activity and wellness, including group exercise offerings, personal training, and educational presentations.
  • Represent the department at tabling events, promoting and recruiting students to participate in departmental activities.
  • Collaborate with the Wellness Collective partners to develop and implement programs that support student wellness and success.
  • Provide tours of the Wellness Center and membership information to prospective students and patrons.
  • Represent professional staff when they are not on site, ensuring a high level of customer service and program delivery.
Requirements
  • Classified as a graduate student at the University of Central Oklahoma.
  • Must have current CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.
  • Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pursuing a Master's degree in Wellness Management - Exercise Science in the College of Education and Professional Studies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Sensitivity to intercultural communication.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Microsoft Office Suite experience.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to problem-solve and provide solutions.
  • Ability to effectively communicate information to prospective and current students, faculty, staff, and patrons.
