Quality Assurance Engineer

Job Summary:
The Quality Engineer Co-Op will implement manufacturing processes to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals in safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost.
This role will spend 50% of work time on the production floor and 50% in an office environment.
Must be a US citizen to be in the position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements to deliver daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics in safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost.
- Partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing leaders to manage, direct, and coordinate tracking of Material Nonconforming reports.
- Implement calibration tracking of tooling, gages, and fixtures via licensed software to produce products meeting customer requirements.
- Develop standard work instructions to improve safety, increase quality, increase productivity, reduce scrap, and eliminate delinquencies.
- Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements impacting production.
- Maintain system documentation for processes and procedures.
- Foster a 'Safety 24/7' culture, driving safety initiatives to ensure zero safety-related incidents annually.
- Generate daily reports related to Safety and Quality as necessary.
Requirements:
- Basic understanding of total quality management systems and tools.
- Ability to read and interpret documents, verbally communicate effectively, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
- Deadline-driven with strong bias toward results achievement, flexible with schedule, and shifting priorities.
- Problem-solving and strong organizational skills.
- Intermediate to advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and CAD software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferred manufacturing environment experience.
- Preferred customer service experience.
- Preferred machining experience (manual or CNC).
Education:
Working towards a BS Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
