Job Summary:

The Quality Engineer Co-Op will implement manufacturing processes to ensure daily, weekly, and monthly performance goals in safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost.

This role will spend 50% of work time on the production floor and 50% in an office environment.

Must be a US citizen to be in the position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements to deliver daily, weekly, and monthly performance metrics in safety, quality, throughput, delinquencies, productivity, first pass yield, and variable cost.
  • Partner with manufacturing, quality, engineering, maintenance, and purchasing leaders to manage, direct, and coordinate tracking of Material Nonconforming reports.
  • Implement calibration tracking of tooling, gages, and fixtures via licensed software to produce products meeting customer requirements.
  • Develop standard work instructions to improve safety, increase quality, increase productivity, reduce scrap, and eliminate delinquencies.
  • Stay abreast of technological advancements and process improvements impacting production.
  • Maintain system documentation for processes and procedures.
  • Foster a 'Safety 24/7' culture, driving safety initiatives to ensure zero safety-related incidents annually.
  • Generate daily reports related to Safety and Quality as necessary.

Requirements:

  • Basic understanding of total quality management systems and tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, verbally communicate effectively, and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Deadline-driven with strong bias toward results achievement, flexible with schedule, and shifting priorities.
  • Problem-solving and strong organizational skills.
  • Intermediate to advanced use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, and CAD software.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred manufacturing environment experience.
  • Preferred customer service experience.
  • Preferred machining experience (manual or CNC).

Education:

Working towards a BS Degree in Engineering - Mechanical, Aerospace, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering preferred.
