Responsibilities:
  • Sourcing & Procurement: Manage the entire purchasing process, from identifying potential suppliers to negotiating prices and finalizing contracts.
  • Demand Forecasting & Planning: Analyze sales trends and market demands to accurately forecast product needs and create purchase orders that align with inventory levels.
  • Cost Analysis & Pricing: Calculate product costs and determine appropriate pricing strategies to ensure profitability.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure the quality of incoming products by conducting regular sampling, gathering customer feedback, and collaborating with suppliers to maintain high standards.
  • Inventory Management: Regularly review inventory levels for discrepancies, large orders, slow-moving items, and expired goods. Work closely with the warehouse team to resolve any issues promptly.
  • Strategic Purchasing: Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support the company's overall business objectives.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to all relevant FDA and USDA safety standards (GMP, HACCP, SSOP, Vendor program, Food Defense, Recall Program, etc.).
Qualifications:
  • Fluency in both English and Japanese is essential.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 3+ years of proven purchasing experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, particularly AS400, is highly advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Japanese foods and liquors is a plus.
