Fleet Service Technician Job Description

Cox Automotive Mobility Fleet Services is seeking a skilled Fleet Service Technician to join our team. As a Fleet Service Technician, you will be responsible for performing certified DOT inspections, preventative maintenance inspections, and repairs on various types of truck equipment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on electrical, brake, and cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Document work performed, parts used, and findings observed on repair orders using company-issued devices and proprietary applications.
  • Communicate with management, team members, and dispatch via Microsoft Office products and other communication methods to obtain approvals, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss findings and notes.
  • Work independently, managing parts inventory and equipment on company-issued service trucks, and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair various types of truck equipment, including electrical, brake, and cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, power steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Confer with customers, dispatch, and sales teams to obtain descriptions of vehicle problems and discuss work to be performed.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and meet Cox Automotive Mobility minimum driving qualification standards.
  • Valid DOT Medical Card or ability to obtain one prior to employment or within 72 hours of hire.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Power Technician on medium to heavy-duty vehicle repair or equivalent combination of technical education/certifications/skill/experiences.
  • Must be at least 21 years or older.
