Job Overview

The Clinical Nurse is an integral part of the Professional Nursing Organization and is responsible for autonomous practice directed by the professional tenets of practitioner, leader/decision maker, scientist, and transferor. The Clinical Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide evidence-based care and continuously monitors and evaluates practice to ensure safe passage of patients that is in the best interest of populations served.

Key Responsibilities:

• Utilize the nursing process to assess, diagnose, identify outcomes, plan, implement, and evaluate an individualized plan of care.

• Practice critical thinking and utilize the nursing process to anticipate and recognize changes in patient status, taking action to modify the plan of care or elevate to the care team as necessary.

• Advocate for patients, uphold their autonomy in decision-making, ensure informed consent, and assist patients and families in expressing self-determination, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics.

• Actively seek feedback and act to improve performance and engage in the governance of practice.

Leadership Roles:

• Manage interpersonal relationships effectively and mentor colleagues for the advancement of nursing practice and the profession.

• Assume authority and accountability for the nursing care of patients while appropriately delegating elements of care to other members of the care delivery team according to laws, regulations, and policies and procedures.

• Prioritize and organize time to optimize patient outcomes.

Scientific Approach:

• Actively seek out the most current evidence and standards and apply and translate them to daily practice, role-modeling a culture of inquiry.

• Contribute to research, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice at the local level, developing new knowledge and sharing it with others.

Communication and Collaboration:

• Communicate effectively in various formats across all areas of practice, actively partnering with others to effect positive change through the exchange of knowledge.

• Precept student nurses, nurse externs, nurse residents, experienced clinical nurses, and other healthcare team members, ensuring they receive comprehensive training and guidance.

Qualifications and Certifications:

• A graduate from an accredited Nursing Program is required, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Required Licensure and Certifications:

• Licensed RN with New Hampshire eligibility is required.

Working Conditions:

Rotating shifts and variable hours are expected.
