Job Description

Job Summary:

Rumpke Transportation Company, LLC is seeking a highly skilled Route Operations Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for supervising a group of drivers to ensure safe and efficient services to our customers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Daily Operations: Oversee the daily activities and performance of route drivers to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Training and Development: Train and direct employees to improve their overall performance, with a focus on safety, customer service, and productivity.
  • Quality and Safety: Monitor and enforce quality and safety standards, ensuring all compliance goals are met or exceeded.
  • Route Management: Run routes as necessary, including absences, vacations, and vehicle breakdowns.
  • Employee Management: Monitor and track employee attendance, performance, and other required documentation.
  • Driver Observations: Perform and monitor driver observations and vehicle inspections to ensure compliance with company policies.
  • Customer Service: Plan, distribute, monitor, and follow-up on daily route assignments to ensure customers are serviced per company standards and agreements.
  • Investigations: Conduct investigations for accidents, injuries, and property damage claims.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Conduct employee observations to ensure safety and procedures are being followed, and perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements:

  • Excellent Communication Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer Skills: Working knowledge of Windows applications and Microsoft applications.
  • Customer Service Skills: Proven customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of the Area: Knowledge of the area with the ability to read maps.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to work independently, make decisions, and resolve problems.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of DOT/OSHA regulations.
  • Driving Skills: Ability to drive a truck with manual transmission.

Working Conditions:

  • Valid CDL: Must have at least a valid Class B CDL.
  • DOT Medical Card: Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or be able to obtain prior to hire.
  • Age Requirement: Must be at least 19 years of age.
  • Driving Record: No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years.
  • Criminal Background: Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years.
  • Physical Demands: Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas.
  • Exposure to Waste: Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Availability: Must be available for 24-hour emergency calls.
  • Eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Driver's License: Valid driver's license (if applicable).
  • Pre-Employment Testing: Must successfully complete pre-employment testing.
  • Language Skills: Must be able to read and speak the English language.
