Job Overview
As a Procurement Specialist, you will collaborate closely with the Materials Manager and a dedicated team of Buyer/Planners, Manufacturing Supervisors, Engineers, and Operators to manage your areas of responsibility effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee stock and non-stock order management within a manufacturing setting.
- Play a crucial role in achieving plant customer service and inventory goals (Raw/WIP/Buffers/Bulk) through proficient inventory management and materials planning for designated commodities and operational schedules.
- Engage with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and proactively identify potential challenges, offering solutions or notifying management as necessary.
- Issue forecasts to selected vendors to guarantee reliable supply chain performance.
- Assist with all raw material/WIP warehousing and shipping/receiving functions as needed.
- Create shop orders and coordinate work center schedules.
- Provide shortage reports for your areas of responsibility.
- Reschedule orders as required.
- Review component inventory levels regularly.
- Run MRP and generate purchase orders, along with resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Expedite orders with manufacturing and vendors.
- Address and manage quality issues with suppliers.
- Collaborate with the Quality Department to assess and resolve non-conforming materials.
- Report on product line performance.
- Communicate order statuses to Customer Service Representatives upon request.
- Evaluate inventory turnover rates for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
- Assist with cost roll by maintaining accurate part data.
- Communicate effectively with internal and external auditors.
- Support the plant's Health, Safety, and Environmental Plan.
Required Skills and Abilities:
Education and Experience:
Required:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
- Working knowledge and proficiency in SAP systems.
- Experience in Buying/Planning (MRP experience).
- Extensive understanding of bill of materials and routings, preferably in BUS.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Independent analytical and decision-making capabilities.
- Demonstrated history of customer focus.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Project Management skills.
Preferred:
- APICS CPIM certification or a plan to achieve it.
- Lean certification or knowledge is a plus.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in a factory environment, including wearing steel-toe shoes and safety glasses.
- Capability to collaborate with all departments within the plant.
- Flexibility to adjust plans and schedules to meet customer demands and deadlines.
- Mobility throughout the facility, including stairs.
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing job duties.
- Willingness to work long hours, including overtime and weekends.
- Occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, and reaching may be required.
- Some lifting may be necessary.
